We all know that different types of weaves/colors in wool create a variety of effects in your hooked pieces. But you can be the master of your wooly destiny by dyeing your own wool! If you are a person who is interested in the dye process, or a beginning dyer, or even a dyer who is interested in gaining some tips and tricks, this class is for you. This class will explore what basic equipment is needed to begin dyeing, the marriage of dye and fabric and why it works, and various techniques that increase the interest of your fabric surface (such as gradation, marbleizing, ombre dyeing, etc.). Fee covers cost of notebook, color wheel, small bottle of Synthrapol, all wool fabric and consumables used in class by participants.
Gina Levesque is a dyer, rug hooker, and weaver. As a biologist, she finds the chemistry of dye baths fascinating. She has been dyeing for over twenty years and taught dye workshops throughout the United States.
